Are you between 8-16 and do you have an interest in making a film? Could you tell a story in 2 minutes about the reality of being a carer? The competition is open to non carers too, just as long as they can help tell the story about what it means to care.
Carers week celebrates and promotes that 6 million unpaid carers do in the UK looking after a loved one or a friend or neighbour. There are an estimated 175,000 young carers in the UK, although that number could be higher. Caring for someone could be as little as helping a sibling for a couple of hours, or being the sole carer to someone with a mental health condition.
The carers week video challenge 2012 wants to explore what life is like for a young carer, how it affects their school life and friendships.
